The Art of the eBook

eBooks Should Be In Your Marketing Toolbox

eBookOn the surface, an eBook is simply a digital book that’s full of information. When you dig a little deeper, though, you will discover that eBooks are actually a great way to market your business.

Let’s take a look at how they can help your business, and then go over some tips you can use to create your own eBooks.

Lead Generation

Businesses typically use content to generate leads. For instance, they might give people a free newsletter if they sign up for their email list. While free newsletters worked at one time, people just don’t want standard newsletters anymore. Thus, you can have a lot more success by offering an eBook that’s chock full of information. Prospects can download the eBook for free as long as they provide their name, email address and other information that you ask for. Then, they will get the book and you will get a new lead for your email marketing campaign.

Increase Conversions

You can also use eBooks to increase your conversions. You can include links that send people to other conversion opportunities such as whitepapers or webinars, or you can send them over to a signup page for a free trial. The sky is really the limit for this. Just include a call-to-action with the link and you will likely get some clicks and conversions.

Now let’s take a look at constructing your eBook.

Your Subject

Your subject is the most important part of your eBook. You need to find a subject that people are interested in so you can get the most leads and conversions. You can do this by looking over your website data. Find out what people want when they come to your site and try to create content around those topics.

Additionally, you can look over some of your blog posts or social media links that did well. See if you can expand on that content.

Do Your Research

Next, you need to do your research. Find out everything you can about the topic, and create an outline based on that information. The outline should consist of several chapters.

Create the eBook

Once your research is complete, you will create the content and the images for your eBook. When creating your content, be sure to dig deep and offer a lot of relevant information. Also, don’t shy away from using sources.

When it comes to your images, you can use Camtasia Studio to take professional screenshots, and use stock photos or images you already have on file. You can also create graphs with your word processing program. Consider using PowerPoint to make some infographics to include in your eBook. The key here is to make it as visually appealing as possible. What you don’t want is a content-heavy, twenty-page word document.

Then, format your book. Be sure to include your logo at the bottom of each page, along with your URL. Consider your brand identity and try to use a similar color scheme throughout.

Make Your Cover and Table of Contents

Next, you will be ready to make your cover and your table of contents. You can use your word processing program to create your table of contents, and you can use a template to make your cover.

Upload the eBook

You need to strive for perfection with your eBook, so make sure to proofread it several times. Once everything is perfect, put it on your website and start marketing it on social media sites.

It’s really that simple to create an eBook. Just follow these steps and you will be able to build some leads and make some conversions.
